LinkedIn surveyed more than 8000 professionals globally to find out the most common childhood career aspirations.

Most LinkedIn members in France and Austria wanted to pilot an airplane or a helicopter. People in Sweden wanted to become engineers opposed to Germany, where childhood dream job was being a scientist.

Here are some highlights:

  • Revenue for the third quarter was $139.5 million, an increase of 126% compared to $61.8 million for the third quarter of 2010
  • Net loss for the third quarter was $1.6 million, compared to net income of $4.0 million for the third quarter of 2010
  • Adjusted EBITDA for the third quarter was $24.7 million, or 18% of revenue, compared to $11.1 million for the third quarter of 2010, or 18% of revenue
  • Members grew to 131.2 million, an increase of 63% from the third quarter of 2010

    LinkedIn is about to approach 120 million members worldwide.
    Europe represents 22% of members.

    United Kingdom (6.9 million), Netherlands (2.8 million), France (2.6 million), Italy (2.1 million) and Spain (2 million) have most LinkedIn users.
    German speaking countries are all behind, as they mostly use XING.
