This is the only diorama so far where I didn’t scratch-build the entire scene. Yes, it’s a commercial product by RT-Diorama. The water mill and the base are cast from plaster, the roof shingles are cut from paper, and the wooden elements are laser-cut from MDF.

I ended up building the terrain from scratch because the original plaster piece was too large and heavy. I used styrofoam for the cobblestone road, real rocks for the creek bed, and some 3D-printed cinderblocks and bricks.

Originally I planned around 5 figures for this scene, but the 3 that didn’t make the cut were plastic from Miniart, and they just didn’t hold up against the fantastic resin ones from Dynamo Models. Ultimately, the two figures are telling a very simple story. The paratrooper is “bribing” the miller’s son with chocolate for a few sacks of flour that are needed in the field kitchen.

It’s the biggest diorama I’ve built so far, and it’s HEAVY.
